Review :
Great films, great release, English subtitled, though be aware there is no English dub if that's what you want
Fans of Kenshin rejoice. Despite Warner Brothers having the rights to the films, they have not (at least as of today) decided to release the film trilogy in the USA. Thankfully for us, we have Passion Entertainment/Encore Films licensing the films for release in Hong Kong (these are official, not bootlegs) and assigning them to Region A, with English subtitles.

For anyone looking for an English dub, I am sorry but there is NO option for English language dubbing. You will have to settle for English subtitles. If you need an English dub, I hope for your sake Warner Brothers finally gets up off their back sides and gives this trilogy a proper North American release.

You may also be concerned that they skimped on the authoring of the discs, and pushed bit rates low to cram each film on a single layer Blu Ray disc. You would be wrong - each disc is dual layer. Movie 1 is about 34 GB in size. Movie 2 is about 38 GB in size, and Movie 3 is about 38 GB in size...
Excellent picture and sound quality
Excellent picture and sound quality. The soundtrack is appropriate for a big screen movie. The cinematography and battle scenes are awesome. Lots of sword fights, beautifully done. The script is very well written, people who did not watch the anime can follow. I watch a lot of Kung Fu movies, I am sure this is exceptionally good. Disks 2 and 3 has trailers but not disk 1. The advertisement at the end of disk 1 looks out of place, disks 2 ad 3 do not have advertisements, instead, they added trailers. The set did not come with special brochures or inserts like some anime DVDs do. The box set is elegantly packaged.

I did not notice grammatical mistakes in the English subtitles. The subtitles are basic but sufficient, accurate and printed in a font that is easy on the eye. I watched each disk in Japanese with English subtitles and then again in Cantonese with English subtitles. I prefer Rurouni Kenshin in Japanese dialogue because Rurouni Kenshin is Japanese. It is interesting...
Exciting Big-Budget Samurai Trilogy Based on the Popular Anime/Japanese Comic Book (Manga) Series
This big-budget blockbuster film trilogy is based on a popular anime and manga series about an assassin, Rurouni Kenshin, at the time of the Meiji restoration in Japan. The swordplay and acting (especially by Taeru Satoh in the lead role) are fantastic. I recommend this film trilogy to anyone who enjoys Samurai action/drama films.

Description of the films included as part of this box set:

- The film "Rurouni Kenshin" stands alone as a story and begins at the end of the Bakumatsu War where Kenshin (marked by distinctive crossing scars on his left cheek) renounces killing, takes up life as a wanderer using a "reverse-bladed" sword (which cannot kill its opponent), and offers aid and protection to those in need in atonement for his past deeds. The story jumps forward ten years where Kenshin comes to the aid of a kendo instructor, Kaoru Kamiya, helps the authorities defeat a...
