Yes, Season Six is still showing on your favorite ABC Network, and the overall rating is still 5 Stars! Great writing, wonderful chemistry with ALL the main characters, and a surprise guest star or two from time to time make it one of the best things on TV. Richard Castle (actually Richard Alexander Rogers) is still in the process of making Det. Kate Beckett the third Mrs. Castle, and it is, at last, no secret.
The plots are realistic. A lot of what is shown could be on the front page any day of the week. The handling of the cases goes by Police proceedure, at least most of the time. Allowances are made for Castle's ability to think "outside the box", which, for a murder mystery writer is what got this whole thing started. And Det. Beckett seems to be on the same wavelength - most of the time. A lot of what makes this show work so well is the wit. A handful of dry humor goes a long way. There is also plenty of pun-ishment! For homicide Detectives there is plenty of...
Best Season Yet

This is the best season yet - I would highly recomment to anyone who is a Castle-follower buying the DVD's so you can watch all of the episodes at the same time without commercial interuptions it is amazing the things you notice - clues - references - etc - to the caes they are working on as well as the raltionships building betweent the characters - Castle & Beckett - Dr Perry & Espisito - Ryley & Jenn - Ryley & Espisito - and of course how the 5 major characters reatle with each other - I can not wait for the next season to be ready once the season has ended to get all episodes in 1 DVD - if I have one complaint it woujld be the length of time between the end of the season and the time my DVD arrives

Thoroughly entertaining television

I'm relatively new to Castle, as I just started watching last season. But it has rapidly become one of my favorite shows on television. There are so many elements that keep me glued to my tv week to week - from the palpable chemistry between Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion (Beckett and Castle, respectively), to the incredibly witty script, to the bro-mance between Detectives Ryan and Esposito. I believe that Season 3 is where this show really hit its stride - nearly every episode has the right amount of intrigue, intensity, and humor. For me, the best episodes of the season were "3XK" (episode 6), "Last Call" (episode 10), and "Knockdown" (episode13). Also, "Knockout", the season finale (which aired last night as of this writing) was one of the most gripping season finales I've seen of any show, period. I can't wait for Season 4!

After eyeballing the hi-tech crime-solving equipment seen in shows like 24 and BONES, there's a cool, old-school quaintness to Detective Kate Beckett's murder board. To sort of piggyback on that observation, sometimes you can have all the fancy bells and whistles, but if you don't have that core foundation of a good cast with terrific chemistry, then you ain't got diddles. Regarding the palpable heat generated by Stana Katic and the awesomely awesome Nathan Fillion, only Boreanaz and Deschanel have got them beat. And shallow guy that I am, I admit that Stana Katic coming in to Season 3 with longer hair makes her look even more stunning. It's also nice to see her Detective Beckett loosening up and having more fun this season. You can only do "icy" so much.

If you like the old Howard Hawks screwball comedies, you'll love the dialogue. If you love crime drama, it'll keep you guessing (sometimes I'm still thinking it over AFTER the episode). If you like family moments, they're in there. And if it's romance you seek, well... it has that too. This is one of the most well written shows I've ever watched, full of great one-liners and profound subtext. And the entire cast does so much with each of their characters. No wonder it has such a loyal fan following. It's thoroughly entertaining, and definitely worth your time and money.

Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic are the most fun/serious/entertaining duo to come along in a long time. This tv show will keep you on the edge of your seat with drama and keep you giggling at the same time. Molly Quinn plays Castle's daughter Alexis, it is so refreshing to see a teenager be a teenager. Molly and Nathan have a connection that shows in their scenes together. They keep you laughing as Alexis is trying to "raise" her father because he is such a kid at heart. Nathan is such a versatile actor he brings life to Castle. Then you throw in Susan Sullivan as his mother? Her past rolls speak for themselves, she is and always has been an amazing actress. The supporting cast, Tony Award winning Actor Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Jon Huertas, Seamus Dever & Tamala Jones, make this the best crime comedy drama to watch. I would recommend season 1 along with season 2, and the book Heat Wave & Naked Heat both written by "Richard Castle" of course.

Season 2 will make laugh and gasp all in the same season

Season 2 of Castle made me laugh harder than while any sit-com I've seen in the last few years. The writing and acting on this show are absolutely phenominal. Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic have such amazing chemistry together. The show manages to blend the daily life mix of comedy and drama which is what real life is more like.

The Double Down is one of the funniest episodes of the season and Tick, Tick, Tick & Boom will keep you guessing. The show wouldn't be what it is though without the great writing and the amazing supporting cast. My husband and look forward to every Monday night for this show. I highly recommend this DVD series if you want to watch an entertaing, quality show.

Way back in the day, I watched Bruce Willis in Moonlighting and fell in love with the kind of comedy and relationship that now sizzles and pops between Detective Kate Beckett and novelist Richard Castle.

Beckett and Castle are two beautiful people with a few scars and flaws that makes them believably human. (Like the play on names, too.)

Castle's devotion to his daughter and his relationship with his quirky actress mother add dimension and depth and more ways to have fun in this television series. Kate's strong, by-the-book behavior is the perfect foil for Richard Castle's 12-year-old boyish ways (even though he is WAY past that age and has a daughter older than that.) He has a Peter Pan syndrome that alternates with responsible father, man-about-town, famous writer, and loving son, not to mention a strong and worthy civilian partner for homocide detective -- Kate who has her own closet full of secrets and designer clothing.

I came to this series late,...
PERFECTION.

My favorite Castle episode so far! The acting was so fantastic (um... NATHAN FILLION in the scene in Beckett's apartment...brought me to tears)and the ending... SO PERFECT. A MUST-SEE. My friends and i have the ENTIRE last scene memorized and are able to quote it word for word. I CAN'T WAIT FOR SEASON 5. September... please hurry.

great humanity in a suspense drama/comedy

What is unique about Castle is the humanity of the characters. The relationships among all the characters and especially Castle and his daughter and mother are well drawn and complex. Castle and Beckett of course are wonderfully paired, very seductive. It is refreshing to watch a show that becomes familiar to you in a warm way, almost as if you were part of the family.

An AMAZING Show With AWESOME Writers And Stars!
My husband and I NEVER miss "Castle". It is the ONLY show we both enjoy equally. And this fifth season opener was incredibly satisfying, not just in its own merits but also in how it advances the characters forward.

For four years we watched as the charming and bright but immature Rick Castle fell deeply and truly in love for the very first time in his life. And we also watched a dynamic and attractive but seriously wounded Kate Beckett slowly begin to painstakingly crawl out of her shell and learn to trust.

That the writers have done this with humor and wit, and adventure and mystery, and adorable fun and genuine tenderness - not to mention with more than a little bit of human wisdom - has been the most enjoyable and heartwarming journey that either of us can ever remember with ANY two fictional characters.

And "After The Storm" is a perfect set piece in a perfect story line in the perfectly imperfect world that has enchanted us in this beloved...
Castle's Awesome!

I've purchased / downloaded several episodes of Castle Season 5. I discovered the show on TNT after the season had started. I was so intrigued by Beckett and Castle that I couldn't wait for the reruns to catch up on Season 5. It was definitely worth it because each of the episodes were fun - filled with banter, humor and sexual tension. Oh yeah, they solved a murder in each episode too. I've been trying to get others hooked on Castle and hope this series runs for several more years.

I was never into watching series TV. Always have on stock market stations and all sports. Then 1 day about 6 weeks ago I caught an episode of Castle. Absolutely fell in love with the characters ( esp. Fillion,of course ) LOL
The writers of thiese storylines are excellent.The comedy lines inserted at all the right places are written with much thought.
I never had a bucket list, but at age 75, I have now. To see Fillion in person.. Hell, I'd be happy to be able to afford to purchase the videos of each season. Got a copy of season 4 and wore it out already.
I for one will be extremely disappointed in they don't renew Castle for season 6.

Not-so-"special" edition

Be warned: while the anamorphic video quality of this release is top-notch, and it has some great extras, Manga Video replaced the gorgeous, dream-like opening titles animated sequence with a series of still frames with English credits superimposed over them. This is a dreadful liberty taken with one of the greatest animated movies of all time.

Miyazaki=Anime Excellence
One of my all-time favorites. I personally prefer it with the original Japanese dialogue, but the english dub included on this DVD isn't bad. Though I must say the English dub directed by Carl Maceck was better, if less literal. (Quickly dodges all the Robotech-haters out there...) (Carl Maceck's translation is NOT included on this DVD)
Lupin III is a master thief. With his cohorts Jigen and Goemon and the unwitting help from his ex-girlfriend Fujiko as well as Lupin's self-proclaimed nemesis, Inspector Zenigata, they free a beutiful Princess from her evil captor who is intent on marrying the young princess to steal the family fortune.
Like all of Miyazaki's other works, this film has gorgeous animation that compliments a very intricate and heartful story.
Fans of the original Lupin III comic by Monkey Punch may not appreciate it as much since the characters act a little 'nicer' than the fans may prefer, but Miyazaki's talent lies in weaving a good story together with...

Not-so-"special" edition

Be warned: while the anamorphic video quality of this release is top-notch, and it has some great extras, Manga Video replaced the gorgeous, dream-like opening titles animated sequence with a series of still frames with English credits superimposed over them. This is a dreadful liberty taken with one of the greatest animated movies of all time.

Miyazaki=Anime Excellence
One of my all-time favorites. I personally prefer it with the original Japanese dialogue, but the english dub included on this DVD isn't bad. Though I must say the English dub directed by Carl Maceck was better, if less literal. (Quickly dodges all the Robotech-haters out there...) (Carl Maceck's translation is NOT included on this DVD)

Winsome fantasy
"Castle in the Sky" is a masterpiece of one of Japan's finest filmakers. There is a simple artistry to Miyazaki's stories. This is a children's film, but it is in the tradition of children's stories that appeal to all ages. A rare, pure fantasy, the film has the same magic as "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" and other early Disney films.
I first saw this movie when it was released in US theaters as "Laputa the Floating Island." The mythical floating island of Laputa is taken from Swift's "Gulliver's Travels." Like Swift, Miyazaki cloaks a political statement with a fantasy, giving deeper meaning to his story. Environmentalism has always been central to his films, and "Castle in the Sky" is no exception.
Visual, the film is a literal flight of fancy. Much of the film takes place in the air. Air pirates travel in unwieldy flying machines. Giant dirigibles sail the skies. Travel by kite is an acceptable option. The animation is of the highest quality, as is the...

I love Studio Ghibli movies. There's a magical element of adventure and heart that are hard to find elsewhere. And Laputa is by far my favorite movie of all Ghibli movies I've seen (seen most of them). I think the English release unfortunately killed it. Note: The 2003 and the newer 2010 DVD versions both point to the same reviews. This review is based on the 2003 Disney American DVD release. It appears that the 2010 version reverts back to the original Japanese soundtrack, extra filler dialogue not present in the Japanese version have been removed. That said, the main points in the review - the choice of voice actors and change in dialogue - still apply. Most Admired and Adored Miyazaki Film
Laputa, Castle in the Sky, is the most creative, ambitious, and adventurous Miyazaki film I have ever seen. I like Miyazaki's work very much for its grandeur, originality, and imagination. Sadly to say that Disney has lost its creative edge. It has been copying stories all over the world. Disney promised to release the Castle in the Sky video in 1999 but they failed to keep their promise. (Disney, please include the original Japanese soundtrack on the US release because I don't like the English voice actor behind Pasu.)
After 16 years since Castle in the Sky was first released in the theatres, I still consider it the creme da la creme of all anime movies. Certainly Laputa's art direction cannot compare to today's S/B CGI and S/B 3D animation. A Wizard Boy Meets a Girl: Poetic Fantasy in Magical World
(In fact 4.5 Stars) Though 'Howl's Moving Castle' ('Hauru-no Ugoku Shiro') may not be Miyazaki's best film, it is still far more enjoyable than many other films, Japanese or American, animated or not. I for one very much enjoyed watching it, and I love the film for its interesting characters and the rich textures of the designs, especially the fantasy world itself where witchcraft and humans' mundane works can be seen side by side. And the titular six-legged castle that really walks among the wilderness is something you never see except in his films.

Miyazaki's new film is based on a book of the same title written by Diana Wynne Jones. The film's story is told from the viewpoint of a 18-year-old girl Sophie, who is working at a milliner's shop every day. But she can hear the sound of bloody battles from the distance, and it is clear that this beautiful country, where witches and wizards live among humans, is going to see another war sooner or later.

A real "Howl"
Not a lot of directors would be brave enough to take on a love story between a girl-turned-old-lady and a wizard missing a vital organ. But Oscar-winning Hayao Miyazaki tackles a new fantasy realm in in "Howl's Moving Castle" -- namely, that of fantasy dowager Diana Wynne Jones.

Sophie (Emily Mortimer) is a plain, unhappy young woman working in a milliner's shop -- lightened only slightly by a mysterious wizard who rescues her one day. But then the evil Witch of the Waste (Lauren Bacall) comes into the shop, and casts a spell on her, turning her into an ancient old lady (Jean Simmons). Sophie ends up wandering into the Moving Castle, a chicken-legged chaos machine, and encountering the sexy if childish wizard Howl (Christian Bale), smart-aleck fire demon Calcifur (Billy Crystal), and preteen apprentice Markl (Josh Hutcherson).

Trying to decode the story ...
Probably many people find the story confusing. I felt the same thing when I saw it in the theater for the first time! The story seemed arbitrary and I couldn't connect the pieces together. But when I watch it again on the DVD, I realize the movie is probably about one thing: personal freedom.

Howl is a free person. He doesn't has a heart and even his home (which is usually characterized as a stable point in one's life) can move :-) He is disguised as different wizards in different counties, and when Sophie asks him how many identities he has, he said "Enough to guarantee my freedom". When Sophie confronts Suliman, she comments Howl as "selfish and cowardly and unpredictable, but he's straight as an arrow. He only wants to be free." But in Miyazaki's world, nothing is black and white. According to Suliman, Howl's power is too great for a person without heart, and he will eventually becomes a monster (some political figures come to my mind).
