Stays fresh through season 4
It's amazing how well the writers do at keeping this show fresh into it's forth season. That's a long time to reuse characters. (Nearly every character in the show is a reboot of a famous fairy tale character)

The writers keep the characters original even though they have been around for longer than many of the viewers. They change the nature of the characters without being offensive to your childhood memories. (Captain Hook is a decent person. Peter Pan is evil. And somehow it works!) The Evil Queen from Snow White becomes likable after being evil, etc etc etc. It all keeps the story fresh, rather than being one episode after another where the same good guys battle the same bad guys over and over and over. The relationships between the characters are constantly evolving.

The addition of the Frozen characters so far this season has been interesting. The casting, make up, and costuming is PERFECT to match the animated Frozen characters.

All in all the...
A New Chapter In: Once Upon A Time
This season looks to be an even better one than the previous! I can hardly wait to watch more!
The plot thickens as Regina is torn between her dark past and a potentially bright future.
Marion & Robin or Robin & Regina.
Rumple & Belle.
Emma & Hook.
Anna, Kristoff, & Elsa.
What is awaiting our favorite Storybrooke characters?
And is that hat a sorcerer's or is it a wizard's?
And who is the writer of the book Henry used to hold?
Let us hope that this season holds some of the answers we seek.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall, what's in store for Fans this Fall?
Looks like ABC/Disney might be pulling a few more stops on one of television's more imaginative and ambitious fantasy series as a brand new season of "Once Upon a Time" kicks off.

[Spoiler-lite synopsis] "A Tale of Two Sisters", as one might expect, possesses some serious Disney ambiance and after the ups and downs (lookin at you Peter Pan) of the previous season, it seems the writers have sort of recaptured the mystery element of Season One while continuing to hone the seamless blending of magical realms with our own. In spite of the mostly happy tenor of the Season Three finale, the more than slightly awkward reunion of Robin and Marian seems to have provoked a relapse for Regina, but thankfully Emma won't let it get her down as she continues to assume the role of savior (wish they'd think of another title) in more than name only and thankfully less of a third wheel or simply Henry's mother. Of course the biggest question on everyone's mind is about the bomb dropped in...

Review :
Once Upon a Time...
By the end of season One, ABC was already touting "Once Upon a Time" as the best new drama on television and small wonder given that it breaks away from the crime drama rut and wonder of wonders; no sleaze, excessive violence or profanity to be found, possibly one of the most family-friendly dramas that television has seen in years. What... is a creatively enjoyable story with likeable characters, great FX and gorgeous sets still sufficient to rate as exceptional adult entertainment?

This brilliant fantasy drama continues to gain momentum with each episode as you are drawn into a world where classic fairy tale characters are brought to life after having been exiled to our world via a wicked queen's evil spell and all memories of their previous lives have been erased. Snow White and Prince Charming are the most obvious main characters but there are also dwarves, fairies, trolls and other great characters like Red Riding Hood, Gepetto & Pinocchio, The Mad Hatter and many more...
Fractured fairy tales
I don't watch a lot of television, but I do allow myself to get hooked on a few series (Mad Men and The Walking Dead presently). I very happily added Once Upon a Time to the list this year. Very skillfully written, especially in terms of transversing the fairy tale world and the "real world" Storybrooke. And I appreciate the way the writers fractured a few fairy tales in the interest of advancing certain plot lines. Unlike one of the other reviewers, I think the characters are rich and multi-dimensional. Some of the most interesting aspects of the show are found it its dark undercurrents/themes. It might be an 8:00 show, but it is definitely an 8:00 show with an edge.

The acting is top-notch. Robert Carlyle will always be a favorite, but all of the actors are spot on for their characters. It has been a great first season and I look forward to Sunday's finale with mixed feelings. I can't wait to see what happens, but I will miss watching the show over the summer.

Here's What's On the DVD!
Okay, we all love the show. That's why we're here. Here's what's on the DVD, according to the back cover:

-Fairy Tales in the Modern World - Filmmakers and cast discuss their early love of fairy tales and how it inspires their work on the show.

Review :
Big changes in a little town...
There are some big changes in Storybrook in this second season of "Once Upon a Time." With the breaking of the Evil Queen's spell at the end of last season, Storybrook's residents are once again aware of their fairy tale identities. However, nothing in this dual world of reality and fairy tale is ever simple. For one thing, no one can leave town. For another, it isn't easy to get back to the original enchanted land that is home for the characters. For a third, Regina, the once and future evil queen, just can't seem to go straight, locking horns with Prince Charming, with Mr. Gold, and finally with a long lost relative.

There will be excitement and enchantment galore in the second season, as the backstories of yet more characters are revealed, and as characters travel between their two worlds. Emma and Snow make a dangerous trip back into the land of enchantment, only to be stranded and left in mortal danger. Their journey will give Snow a chance to teach Emma about...
"I ate my boyfriend...but we can't let it stop us."
So says Red Riding Hood, who is also a werewolf, to Dr. Whale, who is also Dr. Frankenstein. They're two residents of Storybrooke, the New England town that wasn't there before 1983, when the Evil Queen moved the whole population. Sending fairy tale characters from their enchanted world to the modern world isn't new to ABC--a short lived, broadly played sitcom called The Charmings had a similar premise. But Once Upon a Time is a sumptuous "theme park opera" in which the relationships and the relatives are as serpentine as Maleficent the dragon.

Season Two brought the realization to the characters that they were actual fairy tale people. They didn't believe young Henry last year, but like the existence of Mr. Snuffle-Upagus, eventually you can't keep denying the truth. So now the characters have dual essences; they remember who they were and who they are. Prince Charming (or should I say "Cool Hand Charming?") takes control and sets the town straight. Snow White and Emma...
Five Stars Isn't Enough!
Giants, ogres, werewolves, Frankenstein, Mulan, Captain Hook ... what do all the things have in common? Once Upon a Time Season Two, that's what! This is the series that has single-handedly changed the face of television fantasy and made ABC a major player in creative, prime-time entertainment.

This show has almost limitless possibilities and (at the writing of this review) is creatively satisfying the potential of an ever-expanding setting while maintaining continuity with previous episodes. To date Once Upon still hasn't sold out to the prevailing model of dark/edgy/gritty, a thematic bandwagon I'm so sick of I could literally hurl, and more importantly they stick with the main characters from season one, continuing to develop them in a huge way (e.g. the welcome "manning up" of Charming) while constantly introducing new ones.

Also, I've sort of come to expect sub-standard or straight-up cheesy FX from television as a given and this is where Once Upon just...

The fourth season of the fantasy television series "Once Upon a Time" brings new characters and new story elements to its setting in Storybrooke, Maine. The early season episodes borrow heavily, in some interesting ways, from the Disney classic "Frozen", including its main characters. One early episode will involve Henry in a clever riff on the classic Disney tale "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". Along the way, Emma and Hook will finally have a date, and viewers will learn something about that mysterious box in the possession of Mr. Gold., and the awesome secret it holds.

Your time has been collected and you will never get it back
The basic premise is that creation is the truth (though it does not mention which one) and evolution is a lie. Emotionless and weak acting, like this was filmed based on the first rehearsal. Slow and plodding story, including a montage of the entire first half of the movie at the midpoint. Plenty of bible stuff if you are into that.

Could have been an X-Files episode.
The movie could have been an episode of the X-Files with some editing. The movie can be described as mildly dramatic, suspenseful, romantic, and mysterious. The movie also deals with questions about the development of life on Earth from Creationist and Darwinist perspectives. What the aged fossil collector obtains has the potential to call into question some of the established ideas the scientific community at large accepts. There is an example that was not mentioned in the movie but approximates the scenario set by the movie. Recently excavations at a site near Cactus Hill, Virginia produced stone tools that predate Clovis stone tools found at the same site. This gave rise to the controversial Solutrean Hypothesis. The pre-Clovis stone tools bear a strong resemblance to stone tools produced by the Solutrean culture in Europe. This suggests a trans-Atlantic crossing of Solutrean peoples from Europe to North America, during the last Ice Age. The authors of the following book...

Review :
This Show Gets Better and Better!
There are very few shows that get better and better as they get older. Usually, a show has a killer first or second season, then coasts on its former glory, only to peter out. "Adventure Time" is not that kind of show. I fell in love with the first season, but "Adventure Time" is the only show I can think of that continues to reward its viewers season after season with wonderful content that bests what came the year before!

Season 5 is nuts. This year (or rather, year and a half) of television was phenomenal. Over the span of 52 episodes, "Adventure Time" explored many of the great characters that have made this series so fun and wonderful. Let's start at the beginning. I remember eagerly awaiting the premiere, considering what a massive cliffhanger the show had been left on. I was not disappointed. Not only were introduced to (spoiler alert) dimension hopping, but also Prismo, voiced by the fantastic Kumail Nanjiani.

52 episodes for less than $25!
This DVD is jam packed with Adventure Time episodes and by that I mean 52 episodes! I have seen DVDs contain just 10 or so episodes for a whole season, but Adventure Time really pumps out the episodes! Now I haven't seen that many Adventure Time episodes, my kids are the real fans, but the episodes I have seen I do laugh at. We honestly are not big on the special features and haven't checked them out yet. There are so many great episodes available that I warn you though it is hard to just watch one or two, my kids tend to have marathons with all these episodes! For the price of less than $25, it is a great value to have this many episodes. I won't bore you with descriptions of the episodes, but they are funny and should be watched in order if possible. I will say too that I let my 7 and 8 year old sons watch the show, its not inappropriate like Family Guy for example would be for young kids.

Great movie - poor DVD!
This is one of those films that I expected to enjoy much less than many of my family's Disney favorites. As it turned out, both my children and my wife and I like the movie immensely.
The touching story of Little Foot, the last remaining member of his family of Brontosauruses (Brontosauri?), is a great adventure as well. He joins up with younger members of other dinosaur families as they all journey to the Great Valley in search of food.
Along the way they encounter hunger, thirst, earthquakes, and, not least of all, the dreaded Sharptooth. The feel of the dinosaur age is well presented and the characters are cute without being saccharine (and they don't sing!).
The lesson that friends can be friends even though they don't look like you or act just like you is a nice one for kids to see. The idea that working together is important for reaching a goal is also a valuable one.
Having owned a VHS copy of the movie, I was anxious to see the DVD. The result on this...
Still Touching.
I just recently pulled this video out to watch with my three year old daughter and a flood of emotions surged through my veins. What a masterpiece this truly is! Dinosaurs are a species of animals that have always had a dramatic allure and fascination in regard to younger individuals, and what better way to instruct children in the many aspects of life via a movie of this description? Although some scenes are a bit heavy (i.e. the extremely tragic death of Littlefoot's mother-- a scene that still brings tears to my eyes) there are many others that completely compensate. This movie is heart-warming. Children will definitely become attached to the five main characters in this story and identify with them-- the courageous leader Littlefoot, the tempestuous and firey Cera, the innocent and meek Ducky, the comedic and playful Petrie, and the silent and cute Spike. Complete with a gorgeous soundtrack, primarily the beautiful ballad performed by Diana Ross, this is a definitive film...
Not all kids movies have to be happy all the time!
A lot of people are commenting about how negative and depressing this movie is. Well, not all kids are looking for a rainbows-and-cotton-candy kind of film. This was one of my favorite movies as a child. Sure, maybe I was a little aloof to what was really happening, but I found nothing depressing about the film. Yes, it's sad and yes the happy ending isn't a disney-type happy, but I'm sure that doesn't really matter to most kids.

Review :
A Lot Of New Blood
It’s always fun to see “the old gang” get back together. The Toy Story characters have so endeared themselves to our hearts that there is an automatic connection with them every time they appear on screen. In “Toy Story That Time Forgot”, some new blood is introduced.

For a basic plot summary, this little short tells the story of a Christmas playdate at a friend of Bonnie’s. While at the friend’s house, Bonnie is sucked into playing a new videogame instead of playing with the toys. So, Woody, Buzz, and the gang must “go it alone” and interact with a new set of dinosaur toys (led by Reptillus Maximus) that still don’t yet know they are toys.

Like I said, it’s great to see and hear from the toy characters again. In this installment, dinosaur Trixie gets a lions share of the screen-time, much like Combat Carl stole “Toy Story of Terror”. That being said, each of your favorite...
Five Stars
My son loves all the toy story adventures, including this one!

Charming study of childhood play
We had dvr'd this for our 4 year old granddaughter in December of '14 and she has watched it frequently since then. It is thoroughly charming, with a certain depth about childhood play that all the Toy Story films have. This one manages so much in a short.
