Blaze is a huge hit!

Blaze High-Speed Adventures is another great DVD! This DVD includes four episodes which are: Bouncy Tires(Zeg), Stuntmania(Darington), Epic Sail(Stripes) and my son's favorite Team Truck Challenge(Pickle). My kid absolutely love this DVD and while he loves blaze he also is thrilled with Pickle which is why team truck challenge is his favorite episode as Blaze and Pickle team up to win a race together and he was shouting go Pickle throughout the race. I love that he counts and talks along with the movie, it's great to see his excitement. The only downside to this video is that from what I watched of the DVD Starla is not in these episodes which my son noticed.

* after having watched it more Starla actually appears briefly in the episode (Bouncy Tires).

We never seem to catch this on television but it sure is an adorable show. I wish it was around when my middle child was younger as he loved monster trucks. It is a show all about monster truck friends and their silly daily adventures. Each truck has a personality that kids can relate to. I had no idea about the scientific principles and STEM concepts that are behind the show, I love that so much thought is put behind it. This DVD features four episodes that have previously aired on television but great to have on hand for those times when the show is not on.

Great Sci-Fi 50s Double Feature
It's always a pleasure when the B-movies of our childhood are released onto DVD. We don't see these little gems anymore on television (even though we have over 100 channels), mainly, I think, because they are in black and white and this is a color TV world.

But these are the films we stayed up on countless Saturday nights to see and they remain with us psychotronic fans as a most pleasant memory. This MGM Midnite Movies entry is a perfect example, as we find that we enjoy these films all over again. Now, if we can only get the kids to sit still for black and white.

The first movie "The Monster That Challenged the World" (1957)is an intelligently thought out little picture. Mysterious disappearances are occurring in the Salton Sea. Tim Holt (Remember him from "treasure of the Sierra Madre"?) and scientist Hans Conreid (Uncle Tounoose from "Make Room for Daddy") investigate and discover that an earthquake has freed prehistoric mollusks. excellent 50s sci-fi, quite scary if clunky effects

These were two of the scariest films I saw as a kid, genuine late-night TV fun at sleepovers. I was totally engrossed in them, tho on re-viewing them I didn't quite feel the same as I did 40 years ago. While Monster is a pretty typcial, well, monster flick, it has lots of funny twists - mutunts (with radiation thorwn in), good heros, and a suspenseful plot. The one that really got me was IT, this mysterious alien that sneaks on a rocket. It duels with the crew, picking them off one by one: in many ways, it is almost the same film as Alien, but much scarier to me at the age I was if less slick. There are really wonderful films, with memories from my past. Thus, I wd recommend them for 50s nostalgia and xcellent on their own if you can get beyond the old-style effects.

IT! The Terror From Beyond Space
Edward Garea did an excellent review about this wonderful old film on April 4th, 2006. There is not much I can say, but I just want to share my thoughts. To start, this is a wonderful old black and white "B" horror film from the 1950's. I can not understand why we never see these old films on TV. I see many old black and white films on AMC and really enjoy them, but most I've never heard of. I recall when growing up, sitting up to the wee hours of the morning, waiting with anticipation, for these wonderful movies to come on. In our area, Double Chiller Theatre came on at 11:30 each Saturday night and I begged my mother to let me sit up and watch these movies. Two movies would be shown and I recall my favorites were, "House On Haunted Hill". "War of the Colassal Beast", "I Was A Teenage Werewolf", "The Werewolf" and "It,The Terror From Beyond Space". Yeah for a Monster Truck as the Main Character!

This is a great DVD featuring two episodes of a new show on Nickelodeon called Blaze & The Monster Machines. We have actually not caught this on television yet so it was a nice surprise to watch the first two episodes, actually premier of the show, at home when we had the chance. My 6 year old is a huge monster truck fan and this is the first show that I have seen that features monster trucks as the main characters! Very cool and made my kids very happy! The episodes are wholesome, aged for preschool and up, and have simple lessons for kids to follow such as working together, friendship and value.

we love BLAZE!

My 3 year old loves this show! I am giving this only 4 stars because there are only 3 episodes on this dvd. I would have thought it would have been the whole first series. Nonetheless, we love BLAZE!

I've been waiting for this DVD to come into print for years, and now the wait is finally over. Thanks to Lionsgate for finally stepping up, straightening out the rights issues, and putting together a nice 2-Disc special edition of this classic 80s kids flick.

The Monster Squad, much like the Goonies and the Lost Boys, is a kid's flick at heart, but it doesn't come off as if it were written and directed down to children. The flick stars Andre Gower, Ryan Lambert (of Kids Incorporated fame), Brent Chalem, Michael Faustino and Robby Kiger as a group of kids that have a secret Monster club where they pontificate on all things monster related. Quick, two ways to kill a werewolf? Stumped? That's right, everyone knows you need to shoot `em with a silver bullet. Anyway, the group runs into trouble when unbeknown to them the all too real rouges gallery of the classic Universal monster movies are converging on their town looking to destroy an amulet that can prevent them from...

If you grew up in the 1980's, you're probably already familiar with "The Monster Squad." It's been a long time coming for this film to get the DVD treatment and I for one am glad to see it finally happen. For those not familiar with the story, here's a brief explanation: Dracula's been after an amulet that will allow the monsters of the world take over the human realm forever. Van Helsing tried to stop him many years ago but only managed to postpone his success. Now, in the present day 80's, the amulet and the book necessary to trigger it have been found. Dracula gathers up all of his monster buddies (think Universal Monsters) to help him in his quest. Luckily for us humans, young Sean Crenshaw (Andre Gower) and his monster-crazy pals are on the case. This is a great scary movie for kids and adults alike...
This little-known GEM of a film & one of my favorites with mostly a cast of unknowns. Stephen Macht (Graveyard Shift& many other stephen King films) & Jason Hervey (older brother, Wayne on Wonder Years) are familiar faces. A great kids frightfest that has the Creature From The Black Lagoon, Mummy, Wolfman, Frankenstein & a really hot & sexy Dracula with his female coven!
A passel of oddball kids fight the dark forces of evil in their small neighborhood with the help of Frankenstein & Scary German Guy (an old Germanic man that is a neighbor). Great plot, cool special effects, some excellent one liners & some wonderful child acting all make for a terrifc family frightfest! Check out the teacher in the beginning of the movie. The kids call her "Meow Mix" because her head is shaped like a cat's head! Great oddball writing in this movie makes it scary & funny!
Wonderful story! I just can't wait for this to come out...

Very over-the-top, but still fun.
Not as cautious or preachy as the "Super-Friends," but also not nearly as edgey or grim as Warner/DC's new wave of "PG-13" fare either, finding its place ALMOST nestled comfortably inside a veritable "Goldilocks Zone." Thus parents should have little problem showing this one to the kidlets, but it's also clever and engaging enough to hold the attention of more mature audiences as well -- a little of something for everyone.

Were it not for the character designs (read: "ages"), the story feels very much as though it might be taking place about a decade or so prior to the world & events of "Batman Beyond."

Lovers of the Batman animated series may be please by the voicing of the character, but then might go on to express some disappointment after learning that the voices of The Batman, The Joker, et al, are not being supplied by fan-faves Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, etc., but are rather other voice actors doing their...
The Batman Super Friends!
Just finished watching, along with Jeff H., Batman Unlimited - Monster Mayhem released by Warner Brothers.
"Batman Unlimited - Monster Mayhem" can be best summed up by Jeff H.'s wry observation at the end of the movie - "This was the most cartoonish of all the animated DC movies we've watched to date," he said. And Jeff H. is right.
Gotham City is a bright and shiny place in Batman Unlimited - Monster Mayhem - it's not a dark and gloomy city reeking of crime.
Spoilers Ahead!
Even Arkham Asylum, from which Solomon Grundy and Silver Banshee escape from has a wholesome appeal to it that makes it look like a weekend getaway bed and breakfast. The gruesome twosome manage to escape on Halloween night and end up going on a joyride after stealing a car, which gets the attention of Batman, Nightwing, and Red Robin.
After giving the Terrific Trio the brush off, the two meet up with a very annoyed Scarecrow, who at first appears to be the criminal...
Much better than the first one
TLDR: Worth a rent, better than the first one, still not up to DCAU standards, not as silly/over the top as the first one, has a few moments of real character depth.

Now for the details for those who don't mind the read:

While this is definitely more of a children's film than much of what DC is doing these days, it's a bit closer to the DCAU style of storytelling in that there are at least some aspects that have the potential to keep a more mature audience interested.

With regards to the plot, it's still pretty basic not unlike the first Batman Unlimited film, though this one definitely feels more mature and with better quality writing and action (at least for the most part, though there are a few facepalm moments).
